Flooding

The year 2005 went out in the dark. First severe flooding started a couple of days after Christmas and the rain never let up. High tides and high winds contributed to the mess. Dec. 31 started out with a boat rescue of a stranded motorist, and was followed by landslides that took down a grove of eucalyptas trees on Bluff, which trapped some calves and then a few minutes later Ferndale lost power. Other trees hit homes, such as fireman Brian Morrison's. New Year's Eve was spent by candlelight, as the power didn't come back on for two more days.
