Miranda Hay Stack Fire
2006-11-06
About 5:30 in the morning, FVFD received a report of an unidentified fire on Waddington. First on scene reported a large stack of hay on fire. Three engines, R4, and two tenders from FVFD responded. Later tenders from Loleta and Fortuna were also called in. A hay loader quickly arrived and was able to salvage some of the stack that wasn't burning. Leonardo Logging supplied an excavator that was used to dismantle the stack and spread it out in the adjacent field. The fire scene was wrapped up around noon. Damage to the stack of organic alfalfa was estimated at $150,000.
