February 5th, 1897 – Ferndale Enterprise

Last Wednesday evening a large number of the citizens of Ferndale assembled a the Council Room for the purpose of taking steps toward organizing a fire department for this town. H. H. Moller was chosen temporary chairman and I. M. Ring temporary secretary. D. Sonneborn then addressed the meeting in regard to the great need existing for such an organization, and the gentleman was attentively listed to. A canvass for members was then made and the result was that about twenty citizens signed the roll. It was then moved, seconded and carried that a roll be left at the ENTERPRISE and Oracle offices, where all those who desire may hand in their names. The meeting then adjourned to next Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock, when the company will be duly organized. Everybody is cordially invited to attend this meeting, and an active interest should be taken in this movement by every citizen of the town. Be on hand, everbody, next Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock at the Council Rooms.
