For a school project, Dean Peterson wrote a report on the History of the Ferndale Fire Department. He got an A on the assignment.

1977

The Class of 1977 publishes a book of history on Ferndale, called Where The Ferns Grew Tall. It has one chapter with a short history of the Ferndale fire department.

1979

FVFD starts selecting a Fireman of the Year. Jack Smith is the first member honored.
